About

There are four types of unwanted pregnancy prevention: hormonal, barrier, natural, and surgical.

Undesired pregnancy has been a crucial issue for many centuries. Women used to give birth to their kids even at the times when they could not afford it physically or materially. Nowadays the situation has changed tremendously. It has become a common thing among the civilized society to plan the pregnancy and avoid it when the moment is not favorable for it!

Today there are four ways of undesired pregnancy prevention: hormonal, barrier, natural, and surgical.

Oral contraceptives are the hormonal method of birth control and the most popular one. The combined oral contraceptive pill (COCP), often referred to as the birth control pill or simply “the Pill”, is a birth control method that includes a combination of an estrogen (oestrogen) and a progestin (progestogen). When taken by mouth every day, these pills suppress female fertility. Birth control pills or tablets were first approved for contraceptive use in the United States in 1960, and are a very popular form of birth control. They are currently used by more than 100 million women worldwide and by almost 12 million women in the United States. Usage varies widely by country, age, education, and marital status.

Birth control pills are also prescribed to treat mid-cycle pain which some women face with ovulation. Birth control tablets regulate the menstrual cycle and reduce menstrual cramps and heavy bleeding. As a consequence of the reduced bleeding, they may prevent the anemia that can develop in some women. For this reason they also are sometimes prescribed for a number of conditions that are characterized by non-regulate or painful menses and excessive bleeding.

In some cases doctors prescribe higher doses of birth control pills for use as a “morning after” pill to be taken up to 72 hours after unprotected intercourse to prevent fertilization and pregnancy.

Today the most popular preparations are Jeanine, Logest, Diane 35, Microgynon 21, Yasmin and others. You can buy them as per prescription at every pharmacy and online!
